yolearnchinese.com changes
October 24, 2009 – 7:17 pmHey guys, long time no see
back from Shanghai
I’m back from Shanghai and to be honest, this city at the shores of the huangpu river didn’t impress me much. Maybe it was the weather, most of the time there was a certain annoying fog/smog. The few pictures I made often have a grey touch and aren’t attractive really. Also the city is a little boring for a countryside person like me. Maybe because there is not much to do for free in this city. Even Hong Kong offers more for free activities than Shanghai (beach, hiking, …). Or maybe I was pretty annoyed that there was no internet in my appartment? To make things worse, the dialect annoyed me as well. I went to Shanghai together with a friend and sometimes we met her friends in Shanghai. Everytime they were talking in Shanghaihua, which is incomprehensibleto me and therefore boring like watching the grass grow. My previous visits to Chengdu, Kunming and Hong Kong were all superior to this visit.

Shanghai like you can see it on Wikipedia. On one single day during my 25 days stay the sky allowed me to see such a deep blue. And by the way: On the west side of there river, where the photographer is positioned, there is a huge construction site running along the whole riverside. No chance to have a look now.
Having said, I’m not sure if the circumstances of this trip just were wrong, or if Shanghai really sucks. But it doesn’t matter if Shanghai really sucks or not, for certain is I’m not really motivated to write much about this city for now. I planned to visit Shanghai for the 2010 Expo, however I might just skip that.
In which direction will yolearnchinese.com go?
As there is no burining desire in me to write about Shanghai (it is at arctic ice cold levels) the question comes up: What next? Here are some thoughts in no particular order:
- Stop blogging until there is something related to the previous topics discussed here. Basically a long break until I finally manage to move to Asia. Might throw in a few random posts.
- Write more about what happens in the Mandarin speaking world, maybe some political posts. Something like Justrecently. Everyone can rant about the political situation, that’s easy! But I want to stay away from that. Politics are mostly negative.
- Write about business superlatives and records made in China. Maybe something like Chinabusinessblog, however with more personal comments. I always wanted to blog about something where I’m a newbie.
- Other topics that personally interest me, like….
- Hot women. MKL is a great inspiration in this regard. But I always wondered how MKL solves the copyright issue.(blogspot->anonymous->no issue? still a risk of deleted blog… dunno)
- Selfimprovement. Steve Pavlina has done a great job to help everyone to become a better person and his advice is part of my readings on this matter.
- Dating women. I love dating. It’s much better than playing golf.
- Luxury items, luxury travel, luxury women, playing golf … . Basically my future.
- Learning Chinese. While I don’t want to change this into an online course for mandarin chinese, I want to write about my own experiences and also try to motivate my readers to keep on learning this beautiful language.
Somewhere I read the advice: You should blog about those things that interest You and that You think about. Ineed, this blog helped me to think about things more clearly. I also realized that I have mistakes in my way of thinking in the past. I realized that thanks to this blog and by writing articles. Going on with this blog will definitely improve me, and that is something I desire.
This blog has also been an experiment for a long time. Before I started blogging I wanted to know how to attract visitors. While I know the basics now, I still haven’t found a way to do this like some other sites/blogs, which have 10000+ visitors in their first month. Actually I’m still not even close to that. More testing is needed and yolearnchinese.com is a great plattform to do just that.
For now I’m still not sure where to aim at, the only thing certain is, there will be a change in topics.
By the way…
I always want to write something positive as well, so here it is: In less than 6 months I will have graduated and I’ll be ready to start working, earn money, buy a rolex and become a millionaire. More about this soon.

Thanks for the jab at me. Hot women are a small part of my blog and I mostly get them from http://reallycuteasians.net/, but as for me, my blog is ad-free and has no advertorials, I don’t make any money (unlike reallycuteasians and tons of other sites). Some of the girls even thanked me for writing a nice post about them. I always link to the source of the photos (unlike I’ve seen here in some posts) and I had no problems so far and I don’t fear any. Blogging is just my hobby, I keep it positive and I got many lovely followers recently. Maybe you can check some of the popular posts I wrote recently, you’ll see I only get positive feedback.
Be positive and things will go well for you. But you do need to update more regularly in order to keep readers and also comment on their blogs. Then I’m sure you can get many hits quite fast.

Writing updates has been my major problem for the last few months. I need to get to get back on track with that and then also start commenting.
And I also feel that I should update my theme and make it more visually appealing.
About 75% of the photos here are made by myself. The rest I get through the google image search and in those cases I shall not forget to link to the sources in the future.
