No, I don’t want to buy Your product

Some days ago I posted my CV on some job website in China to get an internship. I didn’t have to wait very long. 2 days later I received a letter:

Dear namewe are a language school located in downtown Beijing. we believe that we are the right school for you to learn Chinese before and during your internship work.
You can start your course every Monday and can first settle down in a shared apartment.
the most important is, after understand what you can do and you language ability, we can recommend you the chinese/international IT companies.

The language program they offer is not so cheap. I do understand that China is different from the rest of the world, however this company directly addresses customers from worldwide, so they should act according to international standards which include:

  • I posted a CV and I wrote, that I seek an internship
  • I did not state at all, that I’m looking for an language school
  • Make an Reality Check: Would You take THAT offer for Yourself?

Now what should I answer? My first attempt was like this:

Dear nameI’m very pleased to receive Your offer. I think I will accept this offer, however before I can do this You have to give me a free 4 week holiday trip to Beijing. This is necessary so I can be sure that Beijing is the right location for me.

Yours sincerely,

However I figured that lowering myself to their level is not what I want to do. I made a simple letter stating that I’m not interested at the moment. I also asked if they could refer me some internship without buying their product. This way I still have my foot in their door if I ever need them. Evil! I didn’t get an answer so far. Maybe there was to few flattering from my side? But then I don’t need to flatter, as I’m famous already.
