I got unbanned again
March 17, 2008 – 3:51 amA few days ago I thought I got banned, but the problem is a different one. A friend here in Kunming told me he has the same problem once in a while and it probably comes from the internet provider company. Some websites suddenly just stop working for a few days, sometimes weeks, and then start working again. Could be annoying in the future, but lets get on with blogging.
Picking strawberries
Yesterday some German and Chinese friends went picking strawberries with me. We took the bus to Yiliang 宜良 (yí liáng). From there we took a small tourist bus which took us first to a duck restaurant, then to the strawberry fields. These busses are very small, can pick up up to 8 people and are quite cheap. First this bus took us to a duck restaurant in a small village.

Ducks waiting to be eating in the restaurant. The entrance to the restaurant is just next to the ducks.
The food was quite delicious and when we were done with out duck we went on. The strawberry fields are really remote, You don’t want to walk unless You have a whole day for walking.

Strawberry fields. How many cakes could You make out of these?
Picking strawberries was quite fun, but I picked too much, because we had to stuff them into plastic bags, when we went home. On the way home about half of them became marmalade. What a waste.
Improving my Chinese
It’s almost incredible. Only 2 of our Chinese fellows spoke English, the others were Chinese only. But I could communicate with them anyways. My Chinese is slowly becoming fluent, when the topic is clear and the grammar is not too difficult. In terms of Chinese learning this day was totally rewarding and motivating.
