I was supposed to be the interpreter. The truth is, many conversations were pretty basic, not much beyond haggling over prices and reading basic items like potato, tomato, beef, pork of the English menu.

I guess I had like 2.5 years of English under my belt already.

Well, first of all I need to finish my bachelor degree, so you're probably going there before I get the opportunity to^^

Why was your english right after primary school good enough to be an interpretor for your mum? When I was that young, I couldn't even understand english movies when I watched them - and I've got english relatives...

At that time I already finished primary school, but my parents still made all the important decisions for me ;)

I guess Singapore and Hong Kong are quite similar, although I do want to visit Singapore to really see what's the same and what's different. Tickets are just to expensive at the moment.

Lucky you, can stay one semester in Singapore. I envy you ;)

hehe, nice read. How old were you back then?

I've never been to HK myself, although my cousin has been living there for years, but to be frank, I'd prefer singapore. I've been there, but far not long enough...However, when I do master, I might have to spend one term in singapore, as my university has a special contract with a singaporean university...

The economic development of China in the recen years was impressing from outside, but it must be perfectly overwhelming for people living in China, knowing nothing but poverty, and suddenly got the ability to afford a car several years later.
