China successfully launched its first space station TianGong-1

September 29, 2011 – 4:51 pm

Video of the TianGong-1 launch by China Central Television. That’s really impressive! I’ll do a more complete writeup of the TianGong-1 mission in the next days. In case you want a more complete picture of the Chinese space program, check out my China spaceflight article.

  2. Awesome video – they even added a whole bunch of cameras to their rocket to offer pictures to interested people. Not that common in states where the amount of money spent on space research doesn’t depend on democratic decisions…

I hope the fact that China is catching up in space exploration will help European and American leaders to rethink their rather… conservative attitude towards science.

  3. I was totally overwhelmed with the media coverage. They broadcasted the launch live. If anything went wrong, everyone would have seen it. During the last launches all we got was a press conference after the launch and a few selected minutes of video.

The Europeans previously said, they want to work together with China at the ISS project, Russia as well agreed. It’s the USA blocking a cooperation.

    Congrats to China!
